Katy Perry was declared «magnificent» by many followers as she arrived at the prestigious Westminster Abbey event alongside British Vogue editor Edward Enninful. However, not everyone was as impressed when her huge hat blocked the view — and that was when she was finally able to sit down.
Fortunately, her fans had a sense of humour about the blunder as she struggled to find her spot.
One quipped affectionately: «Katy Perry looking for her throne because she’s the real Queen of England!»
Others were less happy, with one Twitter user branding her «obnoxious» after concerns that the view was being blocked by her oversized pink hat.
However, the general consensus was that the California Girl star looked sensational as she made her grand entrance in a very elegant ensemble.
She paired a vintage-style jacket with a matching dress and long opera gloves, while accessorising the outfit with some pearl jewellery.
The outfit, which mingled retro high fashion and races style with regal formal wear, was a million miles away from the eccentric costumes her devotees are accustomed to seeing her flaunt.
In the past, she’s dressed as everything from a hamburger to a chandelier, complete with light-up candles billowing around her.
Plus while viewers might have had the urge to crack open the popcorn while watching her grand entrance at the event unfold, Katy has gone a step further and actually worn it as well.
On one occasion, she donned a film reel bralet and an upside box of popcorn as a skirt, as she embodied all things cinema.
Today, Katy will attend the Coronation, while she will be one of the main headlining acts at tomorrow’s star-studded concert at Windsor Castle.
She has already reported that she plans to have a «wild» sleepover after receiving a gilded invite to stay overnight on the actual premises of the 1,000 year old historic building.
Katy and husband Orlando Bloom are now close neighbours to Harry and Meghan in California, although neither will be attending her concert tomorrow.
